Small Islands, Big Challenges: Climate Change in Maldives — Activities

We have conducted an inspiring eco-workshop with Grade 9 students of Thaajuddeen School, focusing on the urgent theme “Small Islands, Big Challenges: Climate Change in the Maldives.”

This workshop was part of the Strengthening Sustainable Environment and Livelihood in Maldives initiative, funded by the European Union in Sri Lanka and the Maldives and supported by The Asia Foundation.

Students explored:

The unique vulnerabilities of small island nations to rising sea levels and extreme weather.

How climate change directly impacts livelihoods, ecosystems, and communities in the Maldives.

Practical steps young people can take to champion sustainability and resilience.

By engaging youth in climate education, CLEANMaldives is nurturing the next generation of environmental leaders who will safeguard the Maldives’ fragile ecosystems and vibrant communities.
